1. The output of Emerson UPS power supply is normal when there is mains power supply, while the buzzer will sound for a long time without power supply.


Fault analysis:


According to the phenomenon, it can be judged as part of the fault of battery and inverter, which can be checked according to the following procedures:


1) check the battery voltage to see if the battery is under charged. If the battery is under charged, check whether it is the battery itself or the charging circuit fault.


2) if the inverter output voltage is normal, check whether the inverter drive circuit works normally.


3) if the inverter drive circuit works abnormally, check whether there is PWM control signal output in the waveform generation circuit. If there is control signal output, it indicates that the fault is in the inverter drive circuit.


4) if there is no PWM control signal output in the waveform generating circuit, check whether the output is blocked due to the operation of the protection circuit, and if so, find out the protection reason.


5) if the protection circuit does not work and the working voltage is normal, and the waveform generation circuit has no PWM waveform output, it indicates that the waveform generation circuit is damaged.


The above troubleshooting sequence can also be reversed, sometimes the fault can be found faster.


2. The battery voltage is low, but the battery voltage still can not rush up after more than ten hours of charging.


Fault analysis:


Judging from the phenomenon, the battery or charging circuit fault can be checked according to the following steps:


1) check whether the input and output voltage of charging circuit is normal.


2) if the input of the charging circuit is normal and the output is abnormal, disconnect the battery and retest. If it is still abnormal, it is the charging circuit fault.


3) if the input and output of the charging circuit are normal after the battery is disconnected, it indicates that the battery has been damaged due to long-term non charging, over discharge or reaching the service life.

3. A pair of power amplifier transistors of inverter power pole are damaged. After replacing the same type of transistor, they are burned out after running for a period of time.


Failure analysis:


Judging from the phenomenon, the cause is excessive current, and the causes of excessive current include:


1) over current protection fails. When over current occurs in the output of inverter, the over-current protection circuit will not work.


2) when the pulse width modulation (PWM) module fails, the output two complementary waveforms are asymmetric. One has a long conduction time and the other has a short conduction time, which makes the two arms work unbalanced and even two arms turn on at the same time, resulting in the damage of the two tubes.


3) the parameters of power switches differ greatly. At this time, even if symmetrical waveform is input, the output will be asymmetric. The waveform will cause magnetic bias through the output transformer, that is, the magnetic flux is unbalanced. If the waveform accumulates, the transformer will be saturated and the current will increase sharply, which will burn out the power tube, and one will be burned out, and the other will also be burned out.


4. After the UPS is turned on, there is no display on the panel and the ups does not work.


Fault analysis:


Judging from the fault phenomenon, the fault is in the mains input, the battery and the detection part of the mains power and the battery voltage detection circuit


1) check whether the mains input fuse is burnt out.


2) if the mains input fuse is in good condition, check whether the battery fuse is burnt out, because some ups will turn off all output and display of UPS when the battery voltage is not reached by self inspection.


3) if the battery insurance is in good condition, check whether the mains power detection circuit works normally. If the mains power detection circuit does not work normally and the ups does not have the function of starting without mains power, the ups will also turn off all output and display.


4) if the city detection circuit works normally, check whether the battery voltage detection circuit is normal.

5. When the power supply is connected, every time the UPS is turned on, you will hear the repeated action sound of the relay, the low battery voltage indicator on the ups panel will be on for a long time, and the buzzer will sound for a long time.


Fault analysis:


According to the above fault phenomenon, it can be judged that the fault is caused by the low battery voltage, which leads to the ups starting failure. Remove the battery and conduct equalization charging (all batteries are charged in parallel). If it is still unsuccessful, only replace the battery.


6. A backup UPS works normally when there is mains power. When there is no mains power, the inverter has output, but the output voltage is low, and the transformer makes a lot of noise.


Fault analysis:


The inverter has output, which indicates that the final drive circuit is basically normal, and the transformer has noise, indicating that the two arms of the push-pull circuit work asymmetrically. The detection steps are as follows:


1) check whether the power is normal.


2) if the power is normal, check whether the output signal of pulse width output circuit is normal.


3) if the output of pulse width output circuit is normal, check whether the output of drive circuit is normal.


7. When the UPS is turned on when the mains power supply is normal, the working indicator light of the inverter will flash and the buzzer will give out an intermittent call. The ups can only work in the inverter state, but can not switch to the working state of the mains power supply.


Fault analysis:


It is impossible to convert the inverter power supply to the municipal power supply, indicating that there is a fault in the conversion part of the inverter power supply to the municipal power supply


1) whether the mains input fuse is damaged.


2) if the input fuse of mains power is in good condition, check whether the output of rectifier and filter circuit of mains power is normal.


3) if the output of rectifying and filtering circuit is normal, check whether the detection circuit is normal.


4) if the mains power detection circuit is normal, then check whether the control output from inverter power supply to mains power supply is normal.

8. When the load of backup UPS is close to full load, the mains power supply is normal, while the battery fuse is blown when the battery is powered.


Fault analysis:


If the battery fuse is blown, it indicates that the battery power supply is too large. The detection steps are as follows:


1) whether the inverter is broken down.


2) whether the battery voltage is too low.


3) if the battery voltage is too low, check whether the battery charging circuit is normal.


4) check if the battery voltage is normal.


9. UPS can only be supplied by mains power supply, but not converted to inverter power supply.


Fault analysis:


If the conversion from mains power to inverter power supply cannot be carried out, it indicates that the conversion part of mains power supply to inverter power supply is faulty


1) whether the battery voltage is too low and whether the battery fuse is in good condition.


2) if the battery is partially normal, check whether the battery voltage detection circuit is normal.


3) if the battery voltage detection circuit is normal, then check whether the control output from the mains power to the inverter power supply is normal.
